Subject: 19539/Request to TVA/Chip Mill Operators Date: Tue, 28 Jul 1992 11:16:00 -0500 RESOLUTION NO. 19539 A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE REQUEST OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA THAT THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY DENY ALL REQUESTS FOR PERMITS FOR CHIP MILL OPERATIONS CURRENTLY BEING CONSIDERED BY THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY AND THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS _____________________ Whereas, permitting of chip mills and associated clear cutting of forests in the area surrounding and including Chattanooga and Hamilton County pose potential detrimental effects on our current and future economic development, environment, quality of life, and general desirability of the region; AND Whereas, opposition to the permitting of chip mills by the Tennessee Valley Authority has been publicly expressed by numerous environmental, civic, and industry organizations in our area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, that there be and is hereby expressed a request of the City of Chattanooga that the Tennessee Valley Authority deny all requests for permits for chip mill operations currently being considered by the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Corps of Engineers.
